Spring 2025 | On Film
A few moments from this spring. For those of you that don't know, I've always been into film photography. I tend to shoot most of my personal life on film using old cameras. It gives me an opportunity to document my family on a regular basis, while giving my full attention to living in the moment and enjoying family time. I'm not worried about seeing how the photos turned out on the back of my camera or trying to quickly edit images on my phone during our time together. I've also always been drawn to the way film photos turn out. It's hard to replicate it with digital cameras, and it feels so gritty, messy, and imperfect -- much like how life is every day.
With that said, I haven't been in the habit of documenting our family this way over the past couple of years due to the craziness of life - three kids (all under the age of 10) doing all of the activities under the sun , my wife and I both working full time, and our youngest daughter's diabetes diagnosis, along with how that has taken time to adjust to our new normal as a family. As we've been getting more into a routine lately, and as the kids are getting older, I decided to pick up a couple small point and shoot cameras to begin documenting family life again on film. It's been really nice to get back into it, and the joy that fills my heart when I get the scans back after waiting several weeks is hard to describe. I am excited to continue this throughout the year and excited to share a glimpse into the past few months as a family of five.
